This guide will walk you through how to link your PAX A35 Card Reader to your Elo Kiosk using Canopy 2.0, so your device is ready to accept payments at checkout. It will also cover the operation of the Shift4 BroadPOS App on the card reader.

✅ Before You Begin:

Make sure you’ve already:

  • Assigned a static IP address to your A35 Card Reader
  • Record the serial number of your Elo Kiosk

If you haven’t completed those steps yet, please follow these guides first:

🔧 Assigning the A35 IP in Canopy 2.0

  1. Open the Devices App in Canopy 2.0.

    Your URL will look like:

    https://instance-devices.ordernext.com

(Replace “instance” with your organization’s instance name)

  2. In the Devices App:

    • Make sure you're on the Configurations tab.

  • Use the search bar in the top right to search for your Elo Kiosk's serial number.

  • Once your device appears, click on it.

  1. The Edit Configuration panel will appear on the right.

  1. Under the Shift4 section, locate the field labeled Host IP.

Enter the static IP address you recorded from your A35 device.

  2. Click Save to confirm your changes.

💳 Preparing for Your First Payment

  1. On your A35 Card Reader, launch the Shift4 BroadPOS App from the home screen.

  2. Now, return to your Elo Kiosk.

  3. Update your Kiosk to recognize the changes you just made in Canopy 2.0:

  4. Once that’s done, start a new order on your kiosk and proceed to payment.

Your A35 Card Reader should now prompt for payment.

Complete the transaction fully to ensure everything is working smoothly.

🛑 Exiting the Shift4 BroadPOS App on the A35

While the A35 is waiting for payment, it will display the Shift4 logo on screen. If you ever need to make changes or perform maintenance, there are two ways to exit the app:

Option 1: Use the Tap Sequence

  1. Tap all four corners of the display in this order:

    • Top-left → Top-right → Bottom-right → Bottom-left

  2. A password prompt will appear.

Try entering today’s date in this format: DD/MM/YYYY

    If that doesn’t work, try:

    • A day ahead or behind
    • The fallback password: 08485488

  3. Once in the app settings, tap the Home button at the bottom center to minimize the BroadPOS App.

Option 2: Use the Keypad Restart

  1. Hold the red X and green O buttons on the A35 at the same time.

  2. When the “Restart” option appears, tap Restart, then OK.

  3. The device will reboot and return to the home screen.
