If a device does not have the minimum OTA (firmware) to be compatible with Eloview4, there are two options for upgrading:
- Whitelist the venue’s public IP. Have the venue provide the public ISP IP address the devices are on. Submit it to Elo so their engineering team can whitelist it. The devices will then come online in Eloview3 and can be updated through Eloview3 or locally. Afterward, support can manually migrate the devices to Eloview4. (this option usually takes about 24 hours to whitelist).
- Load the OTA locally. Manually load the OTA (firmware) package onto the device (steps below).
Minimum Firmware for Eloview4
Download the OTA package for the device’s build type:
- Value (most common) – build number ends in +v: https://secure.eloview.com/systemUpdate/ota-iseries-4_0-val/5.000.034.0013%2Bv/elo-i-series-4_0-val-ota.zip
- Performance – build number ends in +p: https://secure.eloview.com/systemUpdate/ota-iseries-4_0-perf/5.000.035.0032%2Bp/elo-i-series-4_0-perf-ota.zip
Manually Loading the OTA Package
- Download the OTA.
- Rename the file to update.zip.
- Format a 16GB micro SD card (or USB drive) to FAT32.
- Copy update.zip to the root directory of the card or drive.
- Unplug power from the Android device.
- Hold the Power button on the back of the device.
- Plug the power back in while continuing to hold the button.
- Release when the power indicator light stops flashing and is solid white.
- Navigate the menu to the option to update from the SD card (or udisk for a USB drive):
- Tap the Home button (or short-tap the screen) to move down the menu until you reach the correct option.
- Press the Power button (or long-press the screen) to execute the selected option.
- After the update applies, use the same method to select and execute the option to reboot the device.
Migrating the Device to Eloview4
Once the firmware is up to date, the device must also be migrated to Eloview4 locally. There are two methods.
Method 1: Manually Switch the Device to Eloview4
- Access the Control Panel: Press the Home and Power physical buttons on the device at the same time.
- Open the Menu: Tap the Menu (hamburger) icon in the upper-right corner of the Control Panel screen.
- Enter Admin Mode: Select Admin from the Quick Settings menu.
- Authenticate: Enter the device’s administrative password. If a custom password has never been configured, the default is 1elo.
- Change Portal Environment: Tap Settings, find the server or EloView environment selection field, and change it to EloView 4 (EV4).
- Reboot & Register: Save the changes and allow the system to refresh.
Method 2: Force the Device to Enroll via Factory Reset
Once the device is registered in the cloud portal, manually trigger it to clear its old settings and re-fetch the EloView 4 server configuration.
If the device is in Android Home Mode
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the app drawer, then tap Settings.
- Scroll down and select Backup & Reset (or System > Advanced > Reset Options, depending on the Android version).
- Choose Factory Data Reset (EloView). Make sure to select the EloView option; a standard factory reset may loop back into standard Android.
- Tap Reset Tablet, then confirm by tapping Erase Everything.
If the device is in EloView Mode
- Open the device Control Panel by pressing the Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
- Enter the Control Panel password (the default factory password is 1elo).
- Go to the Admin settings and trigger an Enterprise Reset.
- After the reboot, connect the device to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It will automatically contact the server and bind to your EloView 4 account.
After these steps, the devices should be available and show online in Eloview4. From here, the device can receive the proper Venue push.
