If this is a brand new device and you’re booting it up for the first time, then please refer to the guide below:
Understanding Android Settings
It’s important to follow the steps below to ensure your Elo Kiosk is configured correctly. If the settings are not properly applied, the Shift4 Venue App may not function as expected and will be unable to process guest checkouts.
Verifying Android Settings on Your Elo Kiosk
⚙️ Accessing the Elo Control Panel
To open the Control Panel, press the Home and Power buttons on the back of the device at the same time.
Once the Control Panel appears:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- You’ll be prompted to enter a password.
Try the following passwords in order:
-
1elo
- Your venue’s ZIP code
If none of these work, please contact venuesupport@shift4.com for assistance.
🧭 Accessing Quick Settings
Once you’ve entered the control panel password, select the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-right corner to open the Quick Settings menu.
- Select Admin
- You’ll be prompted for a password — this should be 1elo
If the password doesn’t work, contact venuesupport@shift4.com for help.
🛠️ Accessing Android Settings
After successfully entering the Admin password:
- The Settings icon will light up and become selectable.
- Tap it, then choose Android Settings from the three options shown.
🖥️ Updating Display Settings
Once inside Android Settings:
- Go to Display
- Tap the Advanced drop-down
- Verify the following settings:
-
Font Size: Default
-
Display Size: Default
-
Screen Density: 160 MDPI
If you change the Screen Density, the device will prompt you to reboot. You should proceed with the reboot once all settings are confirmed.
After the device has rebooted, it should automatically relaunch to the Shift4 Venue App. From here, follow the instructions in the guide below to configure the app.
Switching from EloView 4 to EloView 3
*Only if requested by a Shift4 Support Team Member
EloView is the management system that Shift4 uses to configure and push the Shift4 Venue application to your device. In the event that your Elo device has to be factory reset, Support may request that you move the device from EloView 4 to EloView 3. This can only be done at the device. Below are the steps to easily manage this setting change.
Follow all of the steps above, but choose Elo Settings from the list:
On the Elo Settings page, move "Switch to EloView 4" slider to OFF.
The device may request a reboot when this is done. If so, please reboot or power cycle the Elo terminal.
