This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and configuring the Epson TM30 v3 Thermal Printer for the Shift4 Venue App. The printer can be configured in several ways, including:

  • 🔌 USB Connection

  • 🌐 LAN (Ethernet) Connection

  • 📶 Wi-Fi Connection (Wi-Fi dongle required)

⚠️ Important: Most Epson TM30 v3 models do not include built-in Wi-Fi. A compatible Wi-Fi dongle must be purchased and installed separately to enable wireless functionality.

📡 Network Configuration Requirements

For LAN or Wi-Fi setups, you’ll need to assign a Static IP Address to your printer.

OR use DHCP Reservations provided by your network administrator.

We recommend preparing either a Static IP or a Static IP Range for your network printer(s) before setup.

If you're unsure how to obtain this information, please consult with your IT team or network provider for assistance.

🔧 Epson TM30 v3 Printer – Setup Options

Below are the supported configuration options for setting up your Epson TM30 v3 Thermal Printer, depending on how and where you plan to use it.

💻 Direct USB Receipt Printing

Use this method if you'd like to connect the printer directly to a single workstation (such as an L1400 or Elo Kiosk) for receipt printing only.

📌 Example: A customer-facing receipt printer connected directly to a POS device.

➡️ Follow the steps in this guide to configure USB receipt printing:
(Steps included in this document)

☁️ Cloud USB Receipt Printing

This setup allows multiple devices to send receipt print jobs to a single printer via the cloud, while the printer remains physically connected to one L1400 workstation via USB.

📌 Example: A centralized receipt printer serving several POS devices at the same stand.

🌐 Cloud Ethernet/Wi-Fi Receipt Printing

Connect the printer to your network using Ethernet (LAN) or Wi-Fi(the Wi-Fi adapter is ordered separately), assign a Static IP Address, and place it anywhere in your location with LAN access or strong Wi-Fi. This allows multiple POS devices to route receipts to a single printer.
