This guide will cover the steps of configuring the external Epson Wi-Fi Dongle for your Epson TM30 v3 Printer

Packing List:

ITEM: QTY: REQUIRED Y/N?
Epson USB A Dongle 1 Y
USB Extension Cable 1 N(May Discard if Desired)
Adhesive Strip 1 N(May Discard if Desired)
Reference Guide 1 N(May Discard if Desired)

Setup:

Note: Before plugging the Wi-Fi Dongle into the printer, you should record the MAC Address on the side of the device in case whitelisting is required on the network.

  1. Start by plugging the power cables into the printer and then connecting the Wi-Fi Dongle. Once connected, you may power on the printer. (Make sure a receipt roll is installed.)

  2. After the printer is powered on for about 30 seconds, it will print out the SimpleAP slip, and the Wi-Fi network from the printer will be available to connect to.

  3. Navigate to the network settings on your computer and connect to the Direct-TM30III Wi-Fi.

  • Instead of entering a PIN to connect, select “Connect using a password instead” and enter the serial number that’s on the back of the printer.

  • Once connected, the printer will print the WebConfig Start slip, take the IP Address on this slip, and enter it into your browser.

  1. You will see the following screen after entering the IP Address into your browser. Select Wi-FI from the list

  1. You will then be prompted to enter a password, which is the printer's Serial Number. Enter it and continue.

  • On the next page, you will be presented with a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select the desired one and then OK at the bottom of the page.
  • This should populate the password window, enter the password for the Wi-Fi, and select OK. This will reboot the printer and save the network settings.

Note: Even if the password you entered is incorrect, it will be accepted, so make sure you're entering the correct password; otherwise, you will have to factory reset the device.

  1. Once the printer boots back up, it will print 3 slips. One of those will contain the new IP Address from the assigned Wi-Fi network.

  • Navigate back to your browser on a computer that is on the same network and enter the IP Address into the browser.

  • If prompted with “Your connection is not private,” select “Advanced” and then proceed to the following page.

  1. Once logged back in, select “Advanced Settings” from the presented list.

  1. On the next page, select “Administrator Login” in the top right. Enter the serial number of the printer to log in.

  • Now that you’re logged in, select Network at the top of the page.

  • Under Network, select Basic

  1. Under Basic, change the “Obtain IP Address” setting to Manual. Then, under basic settings, complete the following fields.

  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Default Gateway
  • Primary DNS Server - (Typically set to 8.8.8.8) unless provided an alternative server address.
  • Secondary DNS Server - (Typically set to 8.8.4.4) unless provided an alternative server address.
  • Power Saving (Wi-Fi) - (Move to DISABLE)

  1.  After completing the above steps, select Next, and then Done at the bottom of the page to send the Static IP Address assignment to the printer.

The printer will reboot and apply the Static IP Assignment. This concludes the Wi-Fi configuration of the Epson TM30iii Printer. I recommend attempting to reconnect to the IP Address that you statically assigned to ensure you can still successfully reach the device.
