This guide will cover the steps to set up Xpedite Mobile or Kiosk Tablets with printers. This setup will only work with [Mobile] Pickup, [Mobile] Deliver,y and [Kiosk] Order-Pay-Fulfill Menu Models. For more information on Menu Models please follow this guide.
The full setup for this guide takes place in Canopy Classic.
Important Note: It’s preferred that Network Printers are used to complete the setup of this guide and that is all this guide will cover. You can use Bluetooth Printers with Xpedite Tablets(iPads) but they must always remain right next to the tablet for successful communication.
Additional Note: The Xpedite App for your Venue will not be available if not requested ahead of time. If you’re unsure if your app is ready or created please contact venuesupport@shift4.com or your Account Manager for assistance.
Explanation of Xpedite:
- The Xpedite App is used to receive Mobile and Kiosk orders that require fulfillment by the concession location.
- An iPad is used to download your venue-specific Xpedite App to receive the orders being placed.
- In this case, your iPad also acts as the Print Controller for all print requests specifically for Mobile and Kiosk menu models.

Creating a Tablet:
- Creating a tablet in Canopy Classic allows your Mobile/Kiosk RVC to be a selectable choice in the Xpedite App.
- Navigate to your Ecosystem and Organization in Canopy Classic. You can also access Canopy Classic by visiting your instance-menu.ordernext.com in Canopy 2.0. Then select the dropdown under your Venue Name by the upper left-hand corner and select Canopy Classic.
- Once in Canopy Classic, navigate to F&B → Xpedite Devices and this will default to the Tablets Page.
- Next, follow all the steps in the guide “Creating Xpedite Tablets in Canopy Classic” to create the tablet to your specifications.
- Depending on your printing setup, you should also follow the printing steps or sister guides that go along with the above guide.
- Once you have set up your Xpedite Tablet configuration to meet your needs, proceed with selecting that tablet configuration on your iPad’s Xpedite App.
Xpedite Printer:
- In Canopy Classic, navigate to F&B → Xpedite Devices, and from here select Printers at the top of the page.
- From here select ‘+ Add Printer’ at the top right of the page.
- Under the ‘Add Printer’ Panel, assign a Name to your printer that matches the tablet, the printer Type, Connection method(should remain as TCP), and then enter your IP Address.
- Select Create when done.
- Now your printer should appear in the list or you can search the name of it and it will populate just that device on the page to view.
- Now that your printer(s) are created, you can build out your printing setup to the specific specifications you want for printing.
- For Xpedite you have two options,
- Set up Production Lines & Routing Groups to enable item routing for your Mobile or Kiosk menu types.
- Assign the printer directly to the Xpedite Tablet so that ALL ITEMS print on the Chit requests and if no routing is needed.
- Set up Production Lines & Routing Groups to enable item routing for your Mobile or Kiosk menu types.
Selecting your Tablet:
- On your iPad open the Xpedite App and select your Tablet Configuration based on what you created in Canopy Classic > Xpedite Devices.
- You will be presented with the following edit options when first opening the Xpedite App,

Venue: This by default should already be preselected, if it’s not then select your venue from the list.

Location: This is the Revenue Center that will be sending orders and print requests to this Tablet.

Tablets: This displays the list of tablets you created in Canopy Classic for this specific Revenue Center.
- Counters: Which should be left as N/A(Blank).
- When you’re finished assigning each category, select Continue.
- This completes the setup of your Xpedite Tablet. Depending on your setup, you should run several test orders through either your Mobile Site or from your Kiosk to verify that orders are being received in the correct order state and Chits are printing.
