πŸ“‹ Overview

This guide walks you through creating Routing Groups in Canopy Classic so that items can be properly routed to their designated printers via item routing.Β

πŸ”§ Before you begin: Make sure your Production Lines are already created. If not, follow the [Production Line Setup Guide] or contact venuesupport@shift4.com for help.

πŸ€” What Are Routing Groups?

Routing Groups act as the link between your Production Lines and the menu items that need to be printed on Chits. Think of them as "printer bundles" organized by function (e.g., Hot Line vs Cold Line).

Examples:

  • Hot Line Routing Group – for printers handling hot food
  • Cold Line Routing Group – for items like salads and desserts

πŸ“Œ Note: Only printers that are already added to a Production Line for the same Revenue Center will be available when creating a Routing Group.

⚠️ If you’re using Xpedite with Routing Groups then you cannot have your printer(s) directly assigned to the tablet configuration.

  • Routing ID: Assign a unique number that doesn't match other Routing Groups
