This article will guide you through creating routing groups so that you can route your items under each menu to their designated printers.

If you have already set up your routing groups and need assistance with routing your items please follow this guide.

Note: Before creating Routing Groups you should have your Production Lines already created. You may follow this guide to create your production lines. If you need further assistance with creating production lines please contact venuesupport@shift4.com

Explanation of Routing Groups:

  • Similar to Production Lines here you will need to separate your different types of printers into groups so that your items route correctly.

    • If you were following the same setup as your production lines, you may have a Hot Line Chit (where hot foods are prepared and held) or a Cold Line Chit (where cold foods are prepared and held.)

      • In this configuration, you would separate your different types of printers into their own Routing Group(s).

      • Then only the printers you have assigned under your Production Lines will be selectable when creating a new Routing Group

Note: If you’re using Xpedite with Routing Groups then you cannot have your printer(s) directly assigned to the tablet configuration.

Setting up Routing Groups:

  1. Navigate to your Ecosystem and Organization in Canopy Classic. You can also access Canopy Classic by visiting your instance-menu.ordernext.com in Canopy 2.0. Then select the dropdown under your Venue Name by the upper left-hand corner and select Canopy Classic.

  2. Once in Classic, navigate to F&B → Xpedite Devices.
  • From here select Routing Groups at the top of the page.
    • Next, select (+) Add Routing Group ’ at the top right of the page.

    • Start by naming your Routing Group and selecting the Location (RVC/Menu) that this routing group will pertain to.
  1. Select ‘Create’ this will redirect you to the full configuration of the Routing Group. Here you will have the following edit options,
  • Name(Internal): You can edit the name of the routing group at any time during creation and after saving.

  • Location: This cannot be changed after you initially entered the location from the first pop-up box and thereafter. If you have to change the location you will need to delete the routing group and recreate it.

  • Routing ID: This should be a unique number that differs from your other routing groups.

  • Assigned Printers: In this field search for your printer(s) to add to the routing group. Remember that the only printers that will be available are ones that have been added to your Production Lines for that same Revenue Center.

    • Once a printer is added it will populate in the Assigned Printers field.
  1. When all your changes have been completed, select ‘Create’ at the top right of the page. This concludes the creation of your first Routing Group. To learn how to Route Items please follow this guide.
