Setting up Production Lines in Canopy Classic

This guide walks you through how to set up Production Lines in Canopy Classic. Production Lines allow you to group your Chit Printers from a Revenue Center (RVC) so that they can be broken out under Routing Groups.

⚠️ Before You Begin:

  • Ensure your Chit Printers are already created in Canopy 2.0 > Devices for Cloud Printing. For Xpedite, ensure your printers are already created in Canopy Classic.
  • Follow Step 3 of this guide if needed or contact venuesupport@shift4.com.
  • If you’re using Xpedite, do not link printers directly to the tablet configuration when using Production Lines.

πŸ›‹οΈ What Are Production Lines?

Production Lines are used to group and assign printers within a specific Revenue Center or location. This helps control which items print to which Chit Printer, allowing you to route only relevant items to the correct destination under Routing Groups.


πŸ”— Accessing Canopy Classic

  1. Log in to your Canopy 2.0 instance at:Β 
    yourinstance-menu.ordernext.com
  2. In the top-left dropdown under your Venue Name, select Canopy Classic.

  1. Once in Classic, navigate to:
    F&B > Xpedite Devices


βž• Creating a Production Line

  1. At the top of the Xpedite Devices page, select Production Lines
  2. Click (+ Add Production Line) in the top-right corner
  3. In the popup window:
    • Enter a Name for your Production Line
    • Select the Location (RVC/Menu) that the Production Line applies to
    • Click Create

You will now be redirected to the full configuration screen.


🌐 Configuring Your Production Line

Here you can edit and finalize settings:

  • πŸ“… Name (Internal): You can update the name anytime during or after setup.
  • πŸ”’ Availability: Set to ON to enable printing or OFF to disable it.
  • πŸ“ Location: This cannot be changed after setup. To use a different location, delete and recreate the line.
  • πŸ—šοΈ Assigned Printers:
    • Use the search field to find and assign your printer(s)
    • Assigned printers will appear in the list below

⚠️ Note: Adjusting the "Chit Copies" field will not increase the number of prints. Contact venuesupport@shift4.com if this feature is required.

When complete, click Create in the top-right corner to save.
