đź“– Overview
This guide explains how to set up Merchant Token Passthrough for venues that use multiple Merchant IDs (MIDs) within a single site—such as different areas like suites, concessions, or clubs. This setup allows payment devices to move across locations while keeping the correct payment routing.

⚠️ This setup only applies if all MIDs are within the same venue account. If your venue uses multiple accounts or instances, this passthrough method will not apply.

đź’ˇ How Merchant Passthrough Works

After the Merchant Passthrough function has been enabled and all configurations are complete, updating the MID on a device can be accomplished by adjusting the menu within the Configuration menu on the terminal. The selected menu now determines the MID through which transaction funds are processed

⏳ What to Expect

To ensure a smooth and successful update:

  • Please allow 3–5 business days for preparation and deployment.

  • Devices must remain powered on and connected to the internet during this time.

  • Once the update is complete, we’ll request a test transaction to verify everything is working properly.

This update applies across your venue, so no additional steps are needed per location.

WARNING - The following needs to be completed before our team can begin enabling Passthrough on your account!

‼️All locations must be created using Canopy 2.0 - Menu Manager (not the older Canopy system) to avoid token errors.‼️

    • To learn how to create and manage new Revenue Centers in Canopy 2.0, please see the Revenue Centers guide.

    • To update existing legacy locations from Canopy 1.0 to Canopy 2.0, please follow the Menu Models guide.

🔎 Pre-Deployment Checklist

Before we begin the update, please review the following:

  • Let us know if your POS displays custom images so we can verify compatibility.

  • Confirm whether tips are enabled on your devices.

  • Ensure your hardware is running the latest supported version of BroadPOS:

    • Older versions may not update correctly.

    • If BroadPOS is supported, passthrough will still function as expected.

🚨Highly Important🚨

  • As stated previously, it's extremely important that for Passthrough to work that you have either created or converted all your Revenue Centers to Menu Models in Canopy 2.0

  • It's also extremely important that you have assigned the correct Merchant to all your Revenue Centers before our team begins setting up Passthrough on your account. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing potential funding, and payments will fail!

đź’ˇ How Tokens Work (FYI)

Each ordering location—also called a Revenue Center—must be created in Canopy 2.0 - Menu Manager. Then a Merchant is applied to each Menu, which contains the Token.

  • Tokens are what direct your funding to the correct processing account. If the incorrect Merchant(containing the Token) is applied to a menu, then you run the risk of funding processing to the incorrect account!

đź’» Devices Requiring Update

If you're using any of the following models, we’ll include them in the update:

  • PAX A800

  • PAX A930

  • PAX A35

We’ll ensure these devices are upgraded with the correct software versions and configurations to support token passthrough.

🛠️ What We Update

Our team will handle the technical setup, including:

  • Updating software on PAX and Eloview devices to the latest versions.

  • Verifying token presence in your payment app (BroadPOS).

  • Ensuring your Menu Manager setup includes all locations with the correct MID assignments.

  • Enabling token passthrough settings for your venue.
