Register Devices in Bulk in Shift4 Venue

Description: Canopy now provides the ability to associate net new devices to a venue in bulk through Device Manager. This feature is designed for operators who need to assign a large number of devices at once, eliminating the need to manually register devices one at a time.

When to Use Bulk Device Registration

This feature is ideal when:

• You have received a large shipment of new devices.
• You need to associate multiple devices to a single venue at once.
• You want to streamline device onboarding for a rollout or expansion.

How It Works

Within Device Manager, users will find a new option to upload a list of device serial numbers.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Navigate to Device Manager.
2. Select the Hardware section.
3. Select the Up-Arrow in the top-right on this screen to Register Devices in Bulk.
   
4. A large text entry box will appear.
   
5. Enter the list of device serial numbers.
6. Ensure all serial numbers are:
   • Separated by commas
   • Alphanumeric only
7. Submit the list for validation.

Formatting Requirements

To successfully upload devices:

• Serial numbers must be comma-delimited.
• Serial numbers must follow the accepted serial number format.
• Only alphanumeric characters are permitted.
• No special characters or spaces within serial numbers.

Validation Rules

During upload, Canopy performs automated validation checks to ensure data accuracy and prevent conflicts.

The system will reject serial numbers that:

• Are not in an accepted serial number format
• Contain invalid (non-alphanumeric) characters
• Are already associated with an existing organization or venue

Successful Upload Confirmation

After a successful upload:

• Canopy will display a confirmation message.
• A summary of all successfully associated serial numbers will be provided.
• Devices will immediately appear under the selected venue in Device Manager.

Best Practices

• Copy and paste serial numbers directly from your source file to reduce manual entry errors.
• Double-check for extra spaces before submitting.
• Be sure to perform a Network Data Sync at the device to ensure everything is working
