POS Login - Scan Employee Badge

📋 Overview

Starting in QS POS version 2.48 and higher, employees can now log in or approve manager functions using a barcode or QR code from their badge — no need to type in a PIN! 

This works by scanning the badge with:

  • 🖥️ A USB-connected Zebra scanner for the L1400 POS terminal
  • 📸 An A800 camera scanner
  • 📸 The built-in scanner on an E700 POS terminal

 

🔐 How It Works

✅ Requirements:

  • Device must be running QS POS v2.48+
  • The badge must include a barcode or QR code based on the employee’s External ID
  • The External ID must be numeric only

⚠️ Important Note

If an employee’s POS Account was created with an auto-generated UUID, you’ll need to update it with a numeric External ID for scanning to work.

 


 

🖨️ Supported Scanners
 

Device Scanning Method
L1400 POS USB-connected Zebra scanner or built-in camera
A800 POS Built-in camera scanner

 

📸 A800 Camera Scanning Instructions:

  1. Tap the Scan button in the bottom-left corner of the PIN keypad
  2. The scanner will activate using the camera
  3. Make sure camera permissions are enabled in Android Settings

🔄 Once the scanner detects a valid badge, the system will automatically:

  • Log the user in
  • Approve manager-level actions (if applicable)
