This article explains how to search for and manage venue settings in Canopy 2.0. Venue Settings allow users to customize key operational behaviors for point-of-sale (POS) devices, payments, and customer interactions.

 


 

How to Search for Venue Settings

  1. In Canopy 2.0, select the Settings drop-down on the left side of the screen.
  2. Choose Venue Settings from the list.
  3. All available Venue Settings will be displayed on the page.
  4. To search for a specific setting, use the search box on the right side of the page.
  5. All settings that meet the search criteria will appear on the page.
  6. After making the desired changes to the Venue Settings, select the Save button at the top of the page to apply the updates.

 


 

Available Venue Settings

  • Enable Offline Mode:
    • Activates offline mode globally for all Quick Service POS and Quick Service Tabs devices(Assuming they have a network connection to start) allowing the devices to operate without communicating on a network connection. Legacy Full Service POS devices are not impacted by this setting.
    • To restore online functionality, you must manually disable this setting on all hardware.
    • This setting can be used if you’re anticipating a network outage before an event or are experiencing poor network performance.

  • Require Manager PIN to Configure POS:
    • When enabled, a manager PIN is required to access the POS Configuration section.
    • This setting is enabled by default. It helps prevent staff from switching a device's menu configuration without approval.

  • Alcohol Limit Message:
    • This message appears when a customer attempts to order alcoholic beverages that exceed the venue’s alcohol limit.
    • The message will only be displayed on Mobile Ordering/Delivery and Kiosks.

  • Alcohol Limit Per Order:
    • Sets the maximum number of alcoholic beverages a guest can purchase per order.
    • This only applies to Mobile Ordering/Delivery and Kiosks.

  • Require Card Payments to Open Tab:
    • When enabled, a card payment must be provided before opening a tab, removing the button to select “Add Payment Later.”
    • Prevents a tab from not having a card on file so that the ability to process a payment is not lost at the end of the night. 

  • Allow Cash Payments on POS:
    • Enables cash payments across the venue.
    • This setting can also be modified at the Revenue Center level if cash acceptance varies throughout the venue. This will override any venue-wide settings applied for that particular revenue center.

  • Allow Ticket Payments on POS:
    • Enables ticket payments throughout the venue.
    • This setting can also be modified at the Revenue Center level if ticket acceptance varies throughout the venue. This will override any venue-wide settings applied for that particular revenue center.
  • Allow Gift Card Payments on POS:
    • Allows the use of gift cards for payments across the venue.
    • This setting can also be modified at the Revenue Center level if gift card acceptance varies throughout the venue. This will override any venue-wide settings applied for that particular revenue center.

  • Confirm Suggested Tip Percentage:
    • Prompts the guest to confirm the suggested tip percentage when one has not been selected.
    • Note: No Tip is the default suggested tip option if this is turned off. Suggested Tip percentage setting can also be modified at the Revenue Center level. This will override the venue-wide setting applied for that particular revenue center.

  • QR Tender Behavior:
    • Determines whether the POS shows a QR code for guests to scan with their Wallet or scans the QR code generated by the guest’s Wallet.

  • Enable POS Email Receipts:
    • Adds an Email Receipt button to POS receipt screens.
    • This setting is enabled by default.

  • Enable POS SMS Receipts:
    • Adds an SMS Receipt button to POS receipt screens.
    • Note: This option is NOT available on E700 PAX devices.
    • If you would like this feature to be enabled please contact venuesupport@shift4.com as there are additional steps required in order for SMS Receipts to be enabled.
       
  • SMS Receipt Message:
    • Configures the message sent via SMS when the Enable SMS Receipts setting is enabled.

  • Custom Tip Configuration:
    • Sets the default custom tip options across the venue.
    • This setting can also be modified at the Revenue Center level. Custom tip settings at the revenue center level will override this setting for that particular revenue center.
