Modifying Venue Settings in Shift4 Venue

📖 Overview
This guide walks you through how to find and update Venue Settings in Canopy 2.0. These settings help tailor how your venue handles POS behavior, payment options, guest experience, and more.


🔍 Accessing Venue Settings

  1. Open your browser and go to your organization’s Canopy 2.0 page:
    your-instance-menu.ordernext.com

    Replace your-instance with your actual instance name.

  2. From the left-hand menu, select Venue Settings
  3. Use the search bar or scroll to find the settings you want to update

⚙️ Available Venue Settings

📴 Enable Offline Mode
Allows Quick Service POS and Tab devices to continue working if the network goes down. Devices do this automatically, so only enable this setting if you require venue-wide offline mode.

💡 Tip: Ideal for events with spotty internet or major outages. Once service is restored, you’ll need to manually turn this off on each device.

🔐 Require Manager PIN to Configure POS
Adds an extra layer of control by requiring a manager PIN before changing POS menu configurations.

This is enabled by default to prevent unauthorized changes.

🍻 Alcohol Limit Settings

  • Alcohol Limit Message – Show a custom warning if a guest tries to order too many drinks (Kiosk & Mobile orders).
  • Alcohol Limit Per Order – Set the maximum number of alcoholic drinks per transaction.

💳 Require Card Payment to Open Tab
Removes the Add Payment Later option—guests must swipe, tap, or insert a card to open a tab.

🚫 Helps prevent unpaid tabs at closing.

💵 Allow Cash, Ticket, or Gift Card Payments
Enable or disable tender types across your venue:

  • Cash
  • Ticket Payments (via 3PI integrations)
  • Gift Cards (e.g., GiveX)

🔄 These settings can also be customized per Revenue Center.

💡 Confirm Suggested Tip Percentage
Prompts guests to confirm their tip amount before completing a transaction.

📱 QR Tender Behavior
Choose how your POS handles QR code payments:

  • Display a QR code for the guest to scan
  • Scan a QR code from the guest’s device

📧 Enable POS Email Receipts
Adds an Email Receipt button at checkout.

Enabled by default.

📩 Enable POS SMS Receipts
Adds an SMS Receipt button at checkout.

⚠️ Not available on E700 PAX devices.
📬 Contact venuesupport@shift4.com to enable this feature.

  • SMS Receipt Message – Customize the message guests receive with SMS receipts.

💰 Custom Tip Configuration
Set default tip options for your venue.

🎯 These can be overridden at the Revenue Center level for more control.

🎗️ Charity Configuration
Enable your venue to accept charitable donations at checkout.

🌐 This is a venue-wide setting but can be disabled for individual Revenue Centers if needed.
