Description: Learn to create, identify, and configure Menu Models in Shift4 Venue to standardize menu behavior across service types and reduce setup time.
Menu Models in Shift4 Venue simplify menu configuration by automatically applying all required settings for a specific service flow. Instead of adjusting each setting manually, selecting a Menu Model sets up the correct behavior for your service type.
Prerequisites
Before configuring Menu Models, confirm the following:
- Menu Manager access in Shift4 Venue
- Full-Venue Shift4 Processing
Important: FreedomPay and Braintree are not supported. For access or questions, contact your Account Manager or venuesupport@shift4.com.
Creating or Editing Menus with Menu Models
When adding or updating menus in Shift4 Venue, keep the following in mind:
- Adding a new menu requires a Menu Model selection.
- Existing Legacy Menus (POS, Pickup, and others without brackets) can be upgraded to a Menu Model.
- You can switch between Menu Models, but you cannot switch back to a Legacy Service Type.
Note: After saving, all Menu Model settings apply automatically. You do not need to manually adjust POS submission or other configurations.
Identify Legacy vs. Menu Models
In Shift4 Venue, select Menus > Revenue Centers to view your menus.
- Menu Models display with brackets — for example, [POS] Belly Up.
- Legacy Types display without brackets — for example, POS or Pickup.
To upgrade a Legacy Menu to a Menu Model:
- Select the edit icon next to the menu.
- Select a Menu Model.
- Select Save.
