This article explains how to search for, manage, and create device configurations in Menu Manager. Device configurations allow users to set up and manage settings for various POS devices, ensuring they are properly connected and functional.

 


 

Understanding Configurations

  • Name 
    • By default displays the name of the Menu and the last 4 digits of the Device ID or Serial Number followed by the menu type.
  • Serial
    • Displays either the full Device ID or Serial Number depending on the model of the device.
  • Model
    • Displays the Menu Model type that is selected.
  • Receipt Printer
    • Displays whether a Receipt Printer is selected in the device configuration.
  • Controlled Printers
    • Displays a list of printers this specific device is controlling print requests for. Either for Cloud Printing for Receipts or Chits.

 


 

How to Search for a Device Configuration

  1. Access Menu Manager Devices by going to your instance-devices.ordernext.com
  1. In Menu Manager, select the Devices drop-down on the left side of the screen.
  2. Choose Configurations from the list.
  3. All available device configurations will be displayed on the page.
  4. To search for a specific device configuration, use the search box on the right side of the page.
    Note: Enter the exact name of the desired Device Configuration OR the first 5 digits of the Device ID or Serial Number
  5. All matching Device Configurations will appear.
  6. Select the desired configuration to open the Edit Configuration panel.

 


 

Managing a Device Configuration

In the Edit Configuration panel, you can view and edit the following details:

  • Name
    • If ever renaming the device, we suggest including the name of the Stand/Menu + the Last 4 Digits of the Serial Number of the device. This helps in identifying the location of the workstation/device. 
  • Mode
    • Is set to the Revenue Center and Menu that the device is currently logged to. It’s not necessary to modify the configuration here.
  • Receipt Printer Name
    • When receipt printers are added you can select one from the drop-down menu.
  • Host IP (if applicable)
    • For External Card Readers, such as the PAX A35 or PAX Q25.
  • Card Reader Settings
    • Nothing in these fields should ever be modified or changed. If there are questions in regards to what goes here or you feel that something is incorrect please contact venuesupport@shift4.com.

After making any necessary changes, select Save at the bottom of the panel. To discard changes, select the X at the top right of the panel.
