Configure Inventory Settings for Food & Beverage in Shift4 Venue

Description: This article explains how to configure inventory settings for Food & Beverage (F&B) items in Shift4 Venue 2.0. These steps are required to enable accurate stock tracking and prevent errors during ordering.


Enable Inventory Management

You must first enable inventory management in your venue settings for this feature to work.

  1. Go to Venue Settings.

  2. Scroll to the Orders section at the bottom of the page.

  3. Locate the Enable Inventory Management setting.

  4. Set it to Yes, then select Update Settings to save the changes.

Set Inventory Levels for Individual Items

After enabling inventory management, follow these steps to configure inventory settings for each item:

  1. In Canopy, select Global Items.

  2. Search for the item you want to configure, then select Location Settings.

  3. Select + Add Location Level Override to customize inventory settings for this item.

  4. Add overrides for each relevant location, then select Update to save.

Important: Do not leave the Max/Min Item Count set to 0. This may cause a white screen error and prevent customers from placing orders.
