Background

Merchants allow users to configure Shift4 payments for their Revenue Centers and Menus in Canopy 2.0.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Revenue Center Merchants must be card-not-present Shift4 MIDs
    • If the Revenue Center Merchant is a card-present MID, then Mobile Wallet payments (Rich Checkout & QR Pay) will fail and Mobile Ordering Menus will fail.
  2. POS and Kiosk menu merchants must be card-present Shift4 MIDs
    • Refunds, Tabs, Batch Capture and LTM API state adjustments will fail if this is not set.
  3. All Shift4 MIDs must be GTV enabled
    • Mobile Wallet payments will fail if credit cards are vaulted to non-GTV enabled MIDs.
    • MIDs cannot be retroactively GTV enabled.  Mobile Wallet cards vaulted to non-GTV enabled MIDs will require Engineering to un-vault all cards.  The Mobile Wallet users will need to re-add their cards to the new GTV-enabled MID vault.

Note: If your venue still utilizes FreedomPay for any POS or Kiosk menus, Merchants CANNOT be applied. Customers that continue to utilize FreedomPay are required to use Canopy 1.0 until they migrate to full-venue Shift4 processing and should not follow the steps above or below.

Applying Merchants in Canopy 2.0

Applying Card Not Present Merchants to a Revenue Center

Navigate to Canopy 2.0 > Menus > Revenue Centers. You will either create a new Revenue Center or edit an existing Revenue Center. Either action will require a Merchant to be applied before you are able to save your changes.

In the Revenue Center Merchant section, click the dropdown to select the desired Merchant. Depending on your venue's setup, you may have multiple Merchants to choose from. For Revenue Centers, you must select a "Card Not Present" or "Mobile" Merchant. After you select the Merchant, click Save.

High-Level View of Configured Merchants

Canopy 2.0 allows users to view the Revenue Centers and Menus configured to a specific Merchant. Navigate to Canopy 2.0 > Settings > Merchants and select the Merchant you would like to view. In this section, you can expand the Assigned Revenue Centers and Assigned Menus to view the list of Revenue Centers and Menus configured to the current Merchant.

Missing Merchant Identifiers in Canopy 2.0

Navigate to Canopy 2.0 > Menus > Revenue Centers. You may see red alert icons with the "Missing Merchant" message upon hovering (see below). This alert signifies that either the Revenue Center or POS/Kiosk Menu within the Revenue Center is missing payment configurations.
