Supported in POS version 2.59 and higher, this feature allows attendants to scan item barcodes with POS USB Zebra scanners to quickly add grab and go items to the cart without the need to scroll and search for the item in the menu.

  • Requires a compatible USB Zebra scanner
  • Not currently supported with A800 camera scanner
  • To configure a POS item to be scannable via self-checkout, go to Canopy 2.0 > Menus > Items > Add or edit an item > Enter a valid barcode value

  • A menu may contain both scannable and non-scannable items
  • Users may configure whether to use barcode scanning and whether to show all items or only non-scannable items during the configuration flow on each device
    • Depending on configuration, a menu could have no items displayed, some items displayed, or all items displayed

    • If scannable items are displayed in the menu, the item tile will contain a barcode icon

  • To configure a POS for barcode scanning, go to Hamburger Menu > Configuration > Select Device Type: Concession POS or Customer Facing Display POS > Select Menu > Select Receipt Printer > Select Receipt Printer Settings > Select Self-Checkout Setting: Enable Product Barcode Scanning > Toggle Display Scannable Items On/Off
*NOTE: After configuring your device for barcode scanning or after syncing network data on your device, there may be a  delay of up to two minutes before your scanner will begin reading barcodes.

  • When a device has Product Barcode Scanning enabled, the cart will contain “Scan item” verbiage
