Overview
In Quick Service POS version 2.0.0-qs and higher, the card payment flow has been updated. Guests now add gratuity and provide a signature before dipping, swiping, or tapping their card, rather than after card approval.
Note: This flow applies to Quick Service POS version 2.0.0-qs and higher only. Earlier versions follow the previous payment flow.
Updated Card Payment Flow
Follow these steps to complete a card payment using the updated flow:
- Add items to the cart.
- Select CARD.
- Complete the tip and signature step based on the menu configuration:
- Tipping enabled: The POS prompts the guest to select a tip amount and sign on screen.
- Tipping disabled, signature required: The POS prompts the guest to sign on screen.
- Tipping disabled, signature not required: The POS skips to the next step automatically.
- Tipping enabled: The POS prompts the guest to select a tip amount and sign on screen.
- The guest will see on-screen messaging indicating the device status:
- Loading Card Reader... — The device is connecting to the card reader.
- Card Reader Active... — The card reader is ready to accept payment. This message displays until payment processing is complete.
- Loading Card Reader... — The device is connecting to the card reader.
The guest dips, swipes, or taps the card to complete payment.
Note: A transaction can be cancelled or changed any time before payment processing begins. To cancel or change payment on the Q20 card reader on the E700 device, select the blue back button on the Q20 screen. The guest can then cancel or retry the transaction.
- Once payment processing completes successfully, the POS redirects to the receipt screen.
