Supported in QS POS version 2.47 and higher, this feature allows operators to create items without a price so that a price can be set on the POS when adding the item to the cart.

To configure an open priced item:

  1. Go to Canopy 2.0 > Items
  2. Select an existing item or create a new item
  3. Scroll down to Price
  4. Toggle "Open Priced Item" to ON

To add or update an open priced item in the cart:

  1. Find the desired item in the menu; open priced items will appear in the POS menu with a blank price
  2. Tap the item
    • Enter a price (required)
    • Enter a custom name (optional)
    • Select quantity
    • Tap "Save"
    • Enter a valid manager PIN
  3. Open priced items may be updated from the cart, up until the time the order is created or the item is added to a tab. To update:
    • From the cart, tap the item
    • From the item details drawer, make any desired changes
    • Tap "Update"
    • Enter a valid manager PIN (you will only be prompted again if changing the price of the item)

Notes about open priced items:

  • Adding open priced items to an order or updating open priced items from the cart requires manager approval; this is not configurable
  • Open priced items are mapped to menus in the same way as set priced items
  • Open priced items are configured in the same way as set priced items, including reporting and display categories, tax, and print mapping
  • A menu may contain multiple open priced items
  • The same open priced item can be added to the cart multiple times with a different name, price and/or quantity
  • If an open priced item is assigned a custom name when adding it to the cart, the custom name will override the configured name in data and on receipts and kitchen chits
  • Open priced items are not supported for orders being paid by Rich Checkout (scanning from the Mobile App)
  • Open priced items are not supported in Kiosk or Mobile Ordering menus; if mapped to one of these menu types, they will not be displayed
