Description: SeatGeek Loaded Tickets allow fans to use ticket-linked virtual currency for in-venue purchases, including point-of-sale and mobile orders. This article outlines how the feature works, user experience details, and administrative controls.

Shift4 Venue is a certified Loaded Tickets provider for SeatGeek. When enabled, teams can bundle event tickets with virtual currency. Fans can redeem this value through the Shift4 Venue Wallet or the mobile ordering platform.

Once activated, a Load Tickets button appears on the Wallet home screen, allowing users to load eligible tickets from their SeatGeek account.

User Experience Details

  • Tickets become eligible to load 90 minutes before the event start time (this offset is configurable).

  • Users with multiple tickets can choose which to load—this supports scenarios where tickets may later be transferred.

  • Once loaded, ticket value cannot be transferred. Users must confirm a disclaimer before loading to acknowledge this.

  • Unused funds expire at 3:00 a.m. on the day following the event.

Calendar Days with Multiple Events

If a fan has loaded tickets for multiple events on the same day:

  • Only the first event's tickets are initially visible.

  • Tickets for subsequent events appear once they reach the eligibility window (e.g., 90 minutes before the event start time).

Stolen or Incorrectly Loaded Tickets

If a loaded ticket is reported as stolen, an administrator can use the Shift4 Venue Loyalty app to credit the rightful ticket holder. Data also shows who loaded the stolen ticket. If needed, the administrator can deduct the virtual currency from that user.

This same process applies if a ticket number is guessed and manually loaded. However, the odds of guessing a valid 12-character SeatGeek ticket ID are approximately 4.7 × 10¹⁹, making this scenario extremely unlikely.

To enable this feature for your organization, contact your Shift4 Venue Account Manager.

Ticket value is encoded in the price_type field using this format:

  • Basic format:
    price_type = LV|20.00

  • With additional content (e.g., for analytics):
    price_type = LV|20.00|Family Pack
