Shift4 Venue: POS Summit

About Summit

Summit is a feature that supports a single POS APK build for each Shift4 Venue ecosystem, instead of a build for each venue within an ecosystem. As a result, all venues within an ecosystem will use the same APK, allowing merchants to autonomously switch devices between venues or between orgs within the same ecosystem, instead of having to reach out to STV Support.

Summit is not supported on QS FCC builds. The last available APK version for QS terminals using an FCC card reader is 2.20.5.

Switching Devices Between Venues or Organizations

Switching devices between venues and orgs within the same ecosystem on the same APK build is now supported on POS Summit builds and can be done by the merchant when switching between venues within the same org.

Overview:

• Switching between venues within the same organization can be done individually or in bulk from Device Manager by the merchant

• Switching between organizations within the same ecosystem can be done by the merchant for individual devices, but will require assistance from Shift4 Venue support to bulk register devices to the new organization – once the devices are de-registered from the current organization, the merchant will need to provide a csv list of SNs and the new organization

  • Note: There is an upcoming feature to allow for bulk upload of devices in Device Manager App in Canopy 2

• Switching to a venue or organization in a different ecosystem will still require assistance from Shift4 Venue support to uninstall the current APK and replace it with the APK for the new ecosystem
