The Virtual POS is a web-based version of the POS that allows you to place test orders to troubleshoot issues like:

  • πŸ’Έ Incorrect pricing
     
  • 🧾 Modifier or tax issues
     
  • πŸ” Item categorization problems
     
  • πŸ–¨οΈ Printing issues
     

⚠️ Note: This article highlights some troubleshooting functionality, but does not represent the full capabilities of the Shift4 Venue software.


 

🌐 How to Access the Virtual POS

1. Open a Browser & Go to:

https://[yourinstance]-pos.ordernext.com/

πŸ” Replace [yourinstance] with your actual org’s instance name. 
πŸ“§ Don’t know it? Contact venuesupport@shift4.com

 


 

2. Register the Device

If prompted:

  • Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera
     
  • Log in using your Canopy credentials

 


 

3. Select the Correct Organization & Venue

  • For multi-venue properties, contact support if unsure which to select.

 


 

4. Complete Initial Setup

If this is your first time, you’ll need to configure the Virtual POS:

βœ… Done! You’ll now be prompted to enter your PIN to log in.
 

πŸ” Need your PIN? 
Go to Canopy 2.0 β†’ Settings β†’ POS Accounts to retrieve it.

 


 

πŸ” How to Change Menus or Revenue Centers

  1. Tap the ☰ Hamburger Menu in the top-left
     
  2. Select Configuration
     
  3. Enter your PIN, then select Configuration again
     

⚠️ Manager PIN Required: 
Make sure your account is set to Manager for configuration access.

  1. Choose the desired Revenue Center or Menu
     
    • πŸ›‘ Revenue Centers without POS Menus (like kiosks or mobile ordering) will not appear
       
  2. For Receipt Printer, choose None
     
  3. Click Next β†’ Done
     

πŸ“ Verify the active menu or revenue center at the top of the screen above the PIN entry field.

 


 

πŸ›’ How to Place Orders
 

βž• Add Items

  • Tap any item tile to add it to the cart
     
  • Cart total will update automatically
     

πŸ” Modify Items

  • Items with modifiers will open a detail panel
     
  • Select required/optional modifiers β†’ click Update
     

πŸ”’ Adjust Quantities

  • Click the item in the cart β†’ change quantity β†’ click Update
     

❌ Remove Items

  • Tap the ❌ next to the item, or click Clear Cart to remove all
     

 

🎟️ Apply Discounts

  1. Click the βž• icon next to Discounts
     
  2. Choose a discount
     
  3. Click Apply Discounts
     

 

πŸ’³ Complete the Order

  • Choose a payment method in the bottom left:
     
    • Tenders and Cash work in Virtual POS
       
  • πŸ”’ Card payments are not supported, as this environment is not connected to a card reader
     

 

πŸ“„ After Payment

  • You’ll see an order summary with an order number
     
  • πŸ” To locate this order in Canopy 2.0:
     
    • Go to Orders β†’ All Orders
       
    • Search using the order number
