Autonomous retail solutions are transforming the way venues manage payments and streamline guest experiences. Zippin' (ZPN) and Amazon Just Walk Out (JWO) are two prominent autonomous retail providers that seamlessly integrate with VenueNext’s mobile wallet. Both solutions support mobile wallet QR codes for location entry, discounts, and payments, though they have specific guidelines that must be followed to ensure proper configuration and functionality. Below is a consolidated guide to configuring Zippin and JWO locations, menus, and items for successful integration.

If an autonomous solution has not been configured by the VenueNext internal team for your organization, please reach out to your Account Manager or VenueNext support to request an enablement.

Location Configuration Guidelines

Both Zippin' and Amazon Just Walk Out require specific configurations to operate smoothly, with slight variations in naming conventions and setup details.

Location and Menu Setup

  1. In Canopy 2.0, select the Menus drop-down on the left side of the screen.
  2. Choose Revenue Centers from the list.
  3. Either edit an existing Revenue Center and Menu or create a new Revenue Center and Menu.
    • Existing Revenue Center & Menu:
      • Optional: Include " - ZPN" or " - JWO" to the Revenue Center name(s) to assist in reporting.
      • Enter the External Ref ID as “Org Name - External Ref ID” that is provided by the integrator to enable mobile wallet QR code payments. Example:
        • kezarstadium-1234567
      • Ensure the respective Merchant is selected for payment processing.
      • Ensure the menu that is being used for the integration has an Autonomous Menu Model applied.
      • Assign the respective items to the menu.
    • New Revenue Center & Menu:
      • Optional: Include " - ZPN" or " - JWO" to the Revenue Center name(s) to assist in reporting.
      • Add the details specific to the new Revenue Center and enter the External Ref ID as “Org Name - External Ref ID” that is provided by the integrator to enable mobile wallet QR code payments. Example:
        • kezarstadium-1234567
      • Select the respective Merchant for payment processing.
      • Click "Add a Menu" and ensure an Autonomous Menu Model is applied.
      • Assign the respective items to the menu.
  4. To prevent the location from appearing in the mobile ordering menus list, turn the visibility off.
    • Note: This step is only available in Canopy 1.0 and will be included in Canopy 2.0 at a later date.

Menu Items

It is imperative that all items sold at autonomous locations are included in the respective Menu and the item SKUs identically match the item IDs in the integrator's system (including leading zeros), to successfully charge a mobile wallet for a “cart”.

SKU Audit

Clients should pull the Venue Config report in DataNow. The report includes filters for location, item, price, and SKU to assist with matching SKUs in both platforms.

  • Amazon Just Walk Out: Clients should pull the Catalog Report from Amazon to ensure SKUs are aligned.
  • Zippin': Clients should ensure item IDs in Zippin' are aligned with VenueNext item SKUs.
    • Note: At the time of writing, Zippin's platform requires SKUs to be in all caps. If your SKUs need to be adjusted to match Zippin's requirements, please log into Canopy 2.0 > Menus > Items to adjust the SKUs. Any item with a SKU that needs to be updated will lose its item image. You will need to re-upload the image.
