Description:
This article explains how to create, view, edit, enable, and disable Price Levels in Menu Manager. Price Levels allow venues to implement dynamic pricing based on events and enable more efficient event-based reporting. For first-time Price Level activation or bulk uploads, contact your Enterprise Account Manager. The SkyTab Venue team can assist in exporting current items, checking for duplicate SKUs, and performing a bulk upload.

What Are Price Levels?

Price Levels in Menu Manager enable merchants to manage dynamic pricing based on specific events or services. Price Levels offer two key functions:

  1. Enable Dynamic Pricing:
Price Levels allow different prices to be set for each item depending on the event. When a Price Level is enabled, the POS, Kiosk, and Mobile Ordering systems automatically update to the new prices after a refresh or a fresh attendant login.

  2. Event-Based Reporting:
When creating a Sales Event, a Price Level (Sales Event Type) can be assigned to it, making event-based reporting in DataNow easier by grouping similar events for detailed analysis. For assistance in creating sales events follow this guide.

Determining Price Levels

Determining appropriate Price Levels depends on the type of event and expected demand. Here are some examples:

  • Concert Tier 1: High-profile concerts with top-tier artists.
  • Concert Tier 2: Mid-level concerts with moderate demand.
  • Concert Tier 3: Lesser-known artists or local bands.
  • Kids Show: Family-friendly events.
  • Playoff Game: High-demand sports events.
  • College Basketball: Pricing varies based on teams and match importance.

Note: The default item price is considered the "base" price and should not have a separate Price Level.

  1. Access Menu Manager Price Levels by going to your instance-menu.ordernext.com
  2. In Menu Manager, select the Menus drop-down on the left side of the screen.

  2. Choose Price Levels from the list.
  3. All existing Price Levels will be displayed, showing their ON/OFF status.

  7. After making any changes, select Save to finalize them, or select the X at the top to cancel.

Managing Item Prices for Price Levels

When a Price Level is created, an additional price input box will appear under Menu Manager > Menus > Items. Operators can enter event-specific pricing. If no price change is required, the field can be left blank, and the default price will apply.

How to Enable and Disable Price Levels

  1. Navigate to Menu Manager > Menus > Price Levels.
  2. Use the toggles next to each Price Level name to enable or disable a level.

Note: Only one Price Level can be active at a time. When all Price Levels are disabled, the default item pricing will be used.

Troubleshooting Guide

  • Item(s) not changing the price or only some menus are updating:
    • To enforce global item pricing, update the default item price by adding a penny, save, then remove the penny and save again. This will push the default pricing to all menus.
  • Multiple items sharing SKUs:
    • To resolve this, update the SKU for duplicates to a unique SKU. (Updating a SKU will remove an item image, requiring a new upload.)

By managing Price Levels, venues can take advantage of dynamic pricing strategies and efficient event-based reporting, helping to improve revenue management and operational flexibility.
