Menus - Modifier Groups

Description:
This article explains creating, viewing, editing, and sorting Modifier Groups in Menu Manager. Modifier Groups allow you to attach modifiers (such as Condiments, Mixers, or Sides) to other items, enabling customizable options during a transaction. Modifier options will appear in the POS when a related item is added to a cart.

How to Create a Modifier Group:

Note: Before we create a Modifier Group, we should have all our necessary Modifier Items created ahead of time. Follow this guide for assistance in creating a Modifier Item. 

1. Access Menu Manager Modifier Groups by going to your instance-menu.ordernext.com
2. In Menu Manager, select the Menus drop-down on the left side of the screen.
3. Choose Modifier Groups from the list.
4. Select the Blue Plus Icon in the upper-right corner.
5. The Add Modifier Group panel will appear on the right side.
6. Enter a Name for the new Modifier Group.
   • Note: You need to have your Modifier Items already created beforehand. Otherwise, you cannot save your new group unless you have at least one item selected.
   • This can be different from your Display Name if the group should report differently.
7. Enter a Display Name for the new Modifier Group.
   • • What the Cashier/Customer will see when selecting an item that contains Modifiers. 
8. In the Modifiers section,
   • • Scroll through All Items to find items, or
     • Use the Selected Items button to remove unwanted items.
     • Note: Once an item has been added to the Modifier Group it will appear in the Global Items list with a Blue M to the right of the name indicating it’s a Modifier.
9. Once you have finished editing, select Save to update the Modifiers panel.
10. Return to the Add Modifier Group panel and then select Save to create your Modifier Group, or select the X to cancel.

How to Sort Modifier Groups:

1. In Menu Manager, select the Menus drop-down on the left side of the screen.
2. Choose Modifier Groups from the list.
3. Select the Sort button in the upper-right corner.
   • Note: Sorting is done globally across all menus, so any sorting you do will update the Modifier Group/Modifier to the order you set it to globally. 
   • Additionally: The Modifier Group/Modifier on top of the drawer will be what appears first or on top when presented to the cashier/customer.
4. On the list of Modifier Groups, you can:
   • Drag and drop a Modifier Group into the desired order.
   • Select the expander arrow next to a Modifier Group to adjust the sequence of modifiers within that group.
5. Once the Modifier Groups and Modifiers are arranged as desired, select Save to apply the changes globally.

How to View and Edit Modifier Groups:

1. In Menu Manager, select the Menus drop-down on the left side of the screen.
2. Choose Modifier Groups from the list.
3. All existing Modifier Groups will be displayed, along with the number of Assigned Items within each group.
4. Select the Modifier Group you want to edit.
5. The Edit Modifier Group panel will appear on the right side of the screen.
6. You can edit the following details:
   • Name
   • Display Name
   • Modifiers Assigned
7. To modify the items in the group:
   • In the Modifiers section, select the right arrow to view the modifiers that have already been assigned.
   • You can:
     • Search for specific items to add or remove,
     • Scroll through All Items to find items, or
     • Select Selected Items and uncheck the items you want to remove.
8. Once you've made the necessary changes:
   • Select Save to update the Modifiers panel.
9. On the Edit Modifier Group panel, select Save to finalize the changes, or select the X at the top to cancel.
